Skylar's Ravens

This body of work began as a single sketch for my cousin, Skylar. He tragically passed away in an accident on September 3rd, 2023. Ravens were his favorite bird, and we shared a bond over them. I took the first sketch I made while helping him come up with a tattoo design and carved the linocut bearing his name. Inspired by the design and the character and spirit my cousin had, I created more designs to make a series of ravens. Printmaking can be graphic and raw in its imagery which brings the intended feeling to these designs. Many of our conversations revolved around art so it is only fitting that I chose to use my favorite medium as the outlet. He was a beautiful soul, and he lives in the hearts of those who love him and now in this body of work.
